First interview: The interview was conducted online. HR A was very friendly and asked questions about my understanding of the job responsibilities, the company, and my career plans. They would then assess whether there would be an opportunity for a second interview and a conversation with the manager.
For the second interview at the company, HR provided sparkling water, and I waited in a very beautiful library.
Second interview: The location was the company library.
The interview process was confusing. I waited for over an hour, and by around 6:30 p.m., no one had come to conduct the interview with me.
HR B, who was responsible for receiving me, came over to ask whether I had already spoken with the executive assistant. I was very confused and then realized that I might have been overlooked. I said I was willing to wait a little longer and hoped to complete the interview, and that if the executive assistant became available later, I could interview then. HR B replied that it was not possible.
HR B sat down and interviewed me in the open library, which offered very little privacy and was extremely disrespectful to the candidate. I asked whether it was certain that the interview would take place there, and HR replied, “Yes, there are currently no meeting rooms available.” After inviting someone to come for an interview, is it really that difficult to reserve a meeting room for the candidate? Was there simply no sincerity?
HR B did not seem to understand graphic or web design. My work was all about conveying product propositions and brand concepts, yet they reached the unprofessional conclusion, “All of your work contains internal information.” These are all external-facing materials, okay...
I asked whether, since I had not met with the executive assistant, it was possible that I would need to return to the company for a third interview. HR replied, “It’s possible, but there will also be an internal assessment of whether you are suitable...”
Isn’t the second interview supposed to be a meeting with the executive assistant?
All I felt was that I had been overlooked, had an ineffective conversation (both interviews were with HR?), and had my time wasted. The explanations regarding the interview system and process were also inconsistent.
HR’s attitude was unfriendly. There are many online reviews mentioning HR’s arrogant attitude. After experiencing it firsthand, I deeply felt that there seemed to be problems with the interview system, management, and execution, and that candidates were shown no respect at all. It was an extremely poor experience.
