I’d like to say a few words as a senior employee who has worked at this company for over 10 years.
1. The company pays salaries on time and has never been a day late paying wages.
2. The company provides 14 months of fixed salary annually, with an additional bonus given around Lunar New Year based on individual performance evaluations.
3. I approve overtime and overtime pay every month. The overtime pay is transferred to the employees’ accounts, with no need to exchange it for compensatory leave.
4. The company’s performance grew significantly in 2020 and 2021. In 2021, the entire company received a one-time bonus equivalent to 0.5 months’ salary.
5. Those with good foreign-language skills and technical abilities can proactively seek opportunities to become technical supervisors.
6. The company has a flat structure. Even the CEO is addressed directly by name, without the need for formal titles.
7. Whenever possible, try to work at the Taipei headquarters or at the Japan branch to broaden your horizons.
8. There are many opportunities to interact with major international companies such as Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Intel. Capable employees may also move to these companies.
9. If you develop strong skills, it is easy to change jobs and get a 20–50% salary increase at another company.
10. You have some personal time during work hours, and capable employees pursue self-directed learning.
This is a mid-sized company where the boss has the final say.
However, 99% of small and medium-sized companies in Taiwan are like this too—even a reimbursement request for as little as NT$10 has to be approved by the boss.
The boss likes employees who agree with him. If you do not, you should find your own way forward; otherwise, things will be very difficult.
If you want to learn technical skills, study seriously on your own. If you want to transfer departments, pursue it yourself. If you want a raise, you have to actively ask for it.
Raises do not fall from the sky; if the boss thinks you are obedient, he may give you a little more money.
