1. The air conditioning is very cold
2. There is a cleaning lady
3. Severance pay is provided
I only found out on the day I was laid off that the manager was terrifying. It is unclear whether the company has ever replaced this manager.
1. Every month, you can communicate with the manager about anything, whether your views on the company or work-related issues. The manager will answer and respond to each matter, but this is all an illusion. You think your communication is seen as complaining in the manager’s eyes, but you do not know how the manager describes your problems and ideas. As a result, when submitting the monthly performance report to senior management, the senior manager receives the impression that you are merely complaining. You sincerely want to offer suggestions to the company and discuss improvements, but the manager turns it into you complaining!
While I was still employed, I did not realize the manager was doing this. On the day I was laid off, the senior manager described me as someone who only complained and did not propose ways to improve things. I was speechless. On the one hand, I understood that the company was merely looking for an excuse to get rid of me; on the other hand, I saw this manager clearly for what they were.
2. When discussing the company’s products or technical issues with colleagues during downtime, you may be accused by the manager of chatting.
3. They say you can eat as many snacks as you like, but the snack supply is often empty (it seems to be replenished only once a month).
4. The manager keeps an eye on you if you go to the bathroom frequently.
5. The computers provided by the company are very old.
6. The office atmosphere is extremely quiet. (The manager even talks about how good the atmosphere used to be, but whenever you discuss things with colleagues, you are accused of chatting.)
7. Every department has people without relevant experience, making communication difficult.
8. The company does not give advance notice of layoffs and makes you hurriedly pack up and leave. (I was still busy with a project that month and was pushed relentlessly, only to find out that I was being squeezed dry before being let go.)
9. The free parking spaces leave your car exposed to a lot of sunlight.
10. Paid parking spaces require an annual fee, which is non-refundable, and are assigned by lottery.
11. They keep saying it is a startup company and therefore cannot offer many benefits, while claiming that the company is working hard to improve things.
12. The advertised salary includes perfect-attendance pay; it is not the actual take-home salary.
