In a fairly decent commercial office building, very close to the MRT station!
They sent an interview invitation without looking at the applicant’s résumé first, and the manager even sent the interview invitation by email personally!
When I arrived for the interview that day, they actually asked: “You don’t have any medical device experience, so why did you apply to our company?”
Completely puzzled, I replied: “I didn’t apply proactively. My résumé has always been visible, and the manager was the one who sent me the interview invitation!”
Then they asked an absurd number of questions (including repeated ones). The interview lasted about an hour, and I spent the whole time answering their questions. Even more outrageous was that after the manager (I’ll leave out the surname for now) asked a bunch of questions, they looked at my résumé again and said: “[Your experience doesn’t look particularly outstanding either. You’re just an ordinary office worker; there’s nothing special about you].” I thought to myself: Then why did you invite me to an interview!
Also, whenever the manager asked me questions, they habitually crossed their arms over their chest, rocked the chair from side to side, crossed their legs, and even raised one lower leg while asking me to answer. Since the conference room table was transparent, I could see everything they were doing under it! Very disrespectful!
I also asked why the employee in this position had resigned.
They replied: “For the same reason as you.”
I said: “But I resigned because of the industry’s prospects and the company’s inadequate benefits system...”
Then the manager lowered their head, fell silent, and immediately moved on to the next question...
(I thought to myself: It probably has something to do with your personality as a supervisor and your attitude toward people.)
After several questions they wanted to ask me, I asked again: “What personality traits meet the company’s requirements for this position?”
They immediately said: “I should be asking you that. What kind of person do you think would be suitable?”
I said: “Every company has different requirements, but generally speaking, someone with traits like this and that...”
In the end, they still didn’t answer my question and continued asking me questions based on my responses...
The interview also included many questions about my family situation, such as whether I had student loans or a mortgage, etc.
Finally, I asked whether they would notify me regardless of whether I was hired.
They replied: “Yes.”
But they ghosted me completely and didn’t keep their word!
The working hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; due to the pandemic, they have now changed to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.!
I urge everyone to think carefully before coming for an interview!
