This time I want to talk about the news regarding salary increases—to combat inflation, EBC reportedly adjusted employees’ salaries by 2–7%. You can imagine that the majority must have received 2%. Fine—even if many people really did get increases of 4% or 5%, it was limited to those earning less than NT$50,000…
Many engineers in Taipei happen to earn just over NT$50,000. So do these people have no inflation problem? Are they not responsible for supporting elderly family members and children? When the company wasn’t making money, it was understandable to say that everyone should stand together through difficult times. But now it is making big profits, and the stock price has risen from NT$17 to nearly NT$50, yet it still won’t give us a raise… Salaries just remain frozen, while the company continues to call itself a “happy enterprise” publicly!
If you want to be a happy enterprise, at the very least give us a raise every year—really do something to combat inflation!
To all the junior employees who feel that prices are getting more and more expensive, their salaries have stayed the same, and the pressure is growing: stay strong.
