The owners are a married couple. During the interview, the first round was with the owner (CEO), and the second round was with the owner's wife (COO). Basically, the owner's wife is in charge of everything at the company.
During the interview, I was told that my primary direct supervisor would be the owner. However, after actually starting work, I discovered that the owner's wife controlled everything, and that the job responsibilities described during the interview were completely different from those communicated after I started working.
In addition to having its own products, most of the company's revenue actually comes from handling projects for other pet-related businesses. It's like an integrated marketing company. Because the company's own products are still in development, after joining, I ended up working on marketing projects for other companies, with schedules that were extremely disorganized and rushed.
On top of that, the owner's wife is a control freak. Everything, big or small, has to be reported by email, but she does not reply, so you have no idea whether she has confirmed anything. Since the owner's wife is also the owner of another company, if you need to confirm something and ask the owner directly, you may even get scolded. Things often get stuck between the husband and wife.
Alternatively, if you leave your desk to go to the restroom for five minutes, the owner's wife will call to ask where you are. Basically, this company does not respect its employees and considers exploiting them to be reasonable.
