Although I had heard that the company’s benefits were among the worst in the industry, it was actually the company with the best benefits I had ever worked for.

1. The job posting on the recruitment website was overly brief. It was only after I went for the interview that I learned it was a contract position.

2. No travel expenses were provided for interviewing in Taipei from another county or city.

3. The working hours were not explained in detail during the interview. Management naturally assumed they would follow the construction office’s schedule, while employees always assumed they would follow the Labor Standards Act, with Saturdays and Sundays off. The company even used this as one of the reasons for termination.

4. No training was provided.

5. The probationary period was unilaterally extended for an unreasonable reason. It was even extended twice in violation of the law.

6. The client was allowed to dictate the assignment and retention of construction office personnel.

7. The reason given for termination was Article 11, Paragraph 2 of the Labor Standards Act: “losses.” The company said it had been operating at a loss for more than five years, yet it hired new employees for new projects and then used losses as the reason to terminate those newly hired employees. This was clearly unreasonable.

8. I was terminated for being deemed unsuitable, but I was still required to hand over my work before leaving. I was even assigned new work several days before my departure.

9. The Taipei headquarters and the construction offices in various locations were completely disconnected. I don’t know whether headquarters was unable to keep up or simply unwilling to get involved. As a newcomer working for a demanding client, I felt helpless and alone. I received almost no assistance from headquarters.
