Cons

The HR department is extremely unprofessional, and the company lacks integrity.

I applied for and joined the company for position A,

but I did not interview with any supervisors from position A.

Because the first three months were a probationary internship in position B,

I only interviewed with the supervisor of position B.

Later, I was informed that my salary would be reduced by NT$3,000 for the first three months.

Since it was a probationary period, I thought it was reasonable and accepted it.

There were monthly HR interviews, which seemed fairly thorough.

They always asked whether what I was learning in position B seemed helpful for position A.

Until the interview in the third month, when they suddenly changed their story.

They said that position A actually had no vacancy,

so there was now a new department C, and I would be assigned to department C.

By the way, there was another female colleague who joined at the same time.

We were both assigned to C.

HR also said that because we had passed the probationary period, our salaries would be increased by NT$1,000.

I said, “You originally said NT$3,000.”

She denied it and said that it had always been NT$1,000–3,000.

She even said that, based on the supervisor’s evaluation, the increase could only be NT$1,000.

What was strange was that, apart from the interview, I had never spoken with the supervisor of department B or been asked to do anything by them.

My monthly evaluations were all rated A.

Were they just lying without even preparing their story?

Afterward, the female colleague who joined at the same time and I both encountered the same issue.

We were each given only a NT$1,000 raise, even though they had originally said NT$3,000.

There was even email evidence to support this.

Although salaries are not supposed to be discussed,

it was truly unreasonable, so I had no choice but to speak up about it.

Then the final boss appeared...

The sly old fox who was the HR manager showed up...

He said, “I can help you two ‘negotiate for it.’”

We both felt that using the phrase “negotiate for it” was highly inappropriate,

because this was promised by Taiwan Star Technology. How could he describe it as something we had to negotiate for?

Later, the HR manager even said that anything not written into the offer did not count.

Everyone, please remember: I learned a lesson this time after suffering a quiet loss.

In the end, one of us got the full NT$3,000 back, while the other received only NT$2,000.

The person who received NT$3,000 was even subjected to sarcastic remarks.

The HR manager said: “This NT$2,000 is a language allowance! Your English is okay, right? And remember—in exchange for this allowance, I hope you’ll work a little harder and not leave work right on time!”

Hello! If there were no major projects during the first three months, how were we supposed to pretend to be busy? We couldn’t even fake it! Is there a problem with leaving work on time? I also arrive at work on time!

One more thing: they required that if we wanted to go to department A, we had to wear short skirts every day and know how to act like a hostess, because they believed that the work of position A should be like that of a hostess!

Later, the two of us decided to leave. Both of our reasons involved salary issues and a bad overall experience! But the sly old fox and the supervisors from department A—yes, at this point, the department A supervisors suddenly appeared again!—suddenly closed ranks and targeted the supervisor of department C, saying that we had left because the department C supervisor had put too much pressure on us. They shifted the blame with remarkable force! We do not want to know about the supervisors’ internal power struggles; we just want to do our jobs properly! Don’t drag us into it~

In short, this is a company that neither seeks improvement nor has integrity!

Please, if you want to engage in internal power struggles, go ahead, but if you want to work seriously, don’t go—unless you really enjoy fighting!

Please go and take down the HR manager!

That’s the story

of how they wasted my time.
