1. Basically complies with the Labor Standards Act regarding oral promises
2. A large company (unfortunately, the branch I interviewed with is one of its franchisees in Zhonghe, New Taipei)
I can’t really think of any other advantages.
The salary complies with the Labor Standards Act, which also means it is low. Besides that, the conditions offered are quite poor, making you wonder whether you are applying for a production-line operator position.
During the interview, they asked quite a few tricky questions and conducted a realistic simulation exercise. They also had me assemble a brake lever.
Finally, when they said I could ask them questions, I asked:
1. How many maintenance staff are there in total? They told me that there would be four maintenance staff on site each day. (However, I wanted to know the total number because of the shift-scheduling issue, so that I wouldn’t end up being called in constantly due to insufficient staffing.) But they simply refused to tell me how many people there were. It looked as though everyone had already left.
2. How is performance calculated? They did not answer directly, only saying, “It varies from person to person.” In other words, will the performance requirements be raised according to your results until you can’t earn any bonus!?
3. What is the training period? They said I would need to undergo about three weeks of training (which is essentially a second interview), and then mentioned the base salary... I also asked whether there would be a contract to sign after the training, but they would not provide any details.
4. You are expected to handle sales, repairs, reception, and support for other tasks... They would not discuss the salary either, and it seemed that overtime was not paid.
I asked some questions, but they were not honest and did not answer directly—they just kept giving evasive responses. They clearly had no sincerity, so I stopped asking. They said notification would take another week. Even if I got the job, I would not want to do it. No wonder the position has remained posted for so long. They clearly only want to find slaves.
