Experience: Worked for two months at Meidi Technology in telephone sales (Internet marketing)

Industry introduction: A Yahoo! Kimo reseller

Interview: They first accumulate a certain number of applicants, then explain the job duties in a conference room on a certain day the following week. Basically, this job has a 90% turnover rate, so there are people interviewing every week.

Hiring requirements: You just need to be able to talk and be open-minded. After all, there is a telephone script for new employees to refer to.

Working hours: 9:00–18:00 (one-hour lunch break). New hires have a 12-day probationary period and are paid NT$150 per day. During these 12 days, they leave work promptly at 18:00.

After becoming a full-time employee, the required calling hours depend on whether you reach the required number of applications: no applications: 3.5 hours of calling; one application: 2.8 hours; two applications: 2 hours. If you reach the required calling hours, you can leave work on time.

However, the required calling hours change in the following situations:

Situation 1: The company's performance for the month is poor (Note: this is not limited to individual performance; poor company-wide performance also counts).

Situation 2: There are many national holidays that month, or it is January or February.

No applications: 4 hours of calling; one application: 3.5 hours; two applications: 2.8 hours.

Conclusion: If you have no applications that day and are also someone without sales performance, you must complete four hours of calling, so the earliest you can leave the company is 7:00 p.m.

Work conditions: Normally, you sit at an office desk and use the company phone to call businesses and introduce Yahoo's “Find a Store+” advertising service, asking whether they want to purchase it. You find the customer list yourself. After introducing the service to customers, you call to CHECK with them a few days later. When making calls, the company's vice president patrols behind you.

Products include: Creating a webpage for the customer's store within the “Find a Store+” webpage on the Yahoo! homepage, as well as exposure on three apps: “Find Find,” “Easy Find,” and the navigation software “Papago.” You can check the download volumes of these three apps. It is recommended that you download them first to see whether they are competitive—pretty cold.

Fees: A one-year customer contract costs NT$16,800 and counts as one application. A two-year customer contract costs NT$33,600 and counts as two applications.

Salary: NT$20,000 (base salary) + NT$5,000 (allowance) + NT$2,000 (perfect-attendance bonus) + N (application bonus)

PS. The bonus threshold is 8 applications for NT$5,000, 10 applications for NT$10,000, etc. The more applications, the corresponding bonus you receive. In other words, if you do not reach 8 applications, you receive no bonus.

PS. The allowance is paid after becoming a full-time employee, provided that you are still employed on the 15th of the following month.

EX: If you start working at the company on June 5 and become a full-time employee in July, whether you can receive the NT$5,000 in July depends on whether you are still employed on August 15. If you are not employed then, you will not receive it.

Pros:

1. If you perform well, you can leave work on time. With around 16 applications, you earn approximately NT$60,000 per month.

2. You sit all day in an office and have a lunch break. Excluding mealtimes, the workday is eight hours, with weekends off.

3. You can eat at work and browse Facebook. The boss does not monitor what you are doing, and you can also chat using LINE.

Cons:

1. If you do not reach the required calling hours, you have to work overtime and cannot leave until you finish. There is no overtime pay.

2. If you have no sales performance for several days, your supervisor will call you in, scold you, and then the vice president will reprimand you.

3. During the final week, the required calling time increases by half an hour. At 6:00 p.m., you must go to the conference room for a meeting and report the list of interested customers and the number of deals closed to the vice president—in other words, how the day went. You cannot leave until 7:30 p.m.

Conclusion: They use sales scripts to make customers think the product is very good, but in reality many of the product's functions are defective, and its brand awareness is low. Many business owners say “it has no effect” after paying, and some become very angry and file complaints. Many business owners who purchase it feel they have been deceived, while many who do not close a deal also frequently receive calls and find them unbearable.
