時創科技股份有限公司
Pros

At first, it feels like the atmosphere throughout the company is great, and everyone seems like one big family. But in fact, this is all fake—it’s just a way to make you obedient and do as you’re told. After all, other than selling you on a sense of personal connection, they can’t offer you much more. If you like working alone but doing what feels like the work of three people, this is definitely the place for you. The best thing about working here is learning to be independent, because you’ll often do many things beyond your job responsibilities, and there is always a shortage of staff.

Cons

The boss has a lot of ideals and has worked hard to keep the company going with those ideals and family members as shareholders. Unfortunately, although the boss’s concept was to incorporate “health”—the major theme they wanted most—into the game, it turned into a motion-based cooking game. Going somewhat off-topic would not necessarily be a problem, but the key issue is that the company is full of people making games who have no prior game-development experience and are not particularly passionate about games. They also have seriously insufficient knowledge of game design and development processes, yet start making games based on their own preferences. The company is small, and although most employees’ salaries are not very high, that would not be a major issue if they were given enough time. However, activities are often organized without giving the development team sufficient time to prepare, resulting in final products that are far from ideal. They say that any problems can be raised, but when you actually point out problems you see, the company just treats you as a complainer and a nuisance, thinking you are arrogant because you believe you are capable. I was completely left with an Asian-person question mark.

Once, the company held an on-site game-versus-game event. Because there were not enough staff, they actually forced all of the company’s technical employees to go to the venue on Saturday and Sunday to work as game promoters, giving only two days of compensatory leave. Normally, overtime is basically unpaid. It seems that weekend overtime is eventually compensated, but only at the standard overtime rate. If you don’t argue with the company, the company will still calculate every last detail with you.
