I submitted my résumé, and HR replied asking about my height.

(Is this height discrimination against people of certain heights?)

I still told them my height at the time,

and even helped them think of a reason they hadn’t thought of themselves,

very humbly asking, “May I ask why you need to know my height?”

“If it’s due to concerns about clients’ perceptions,” I said, “I don’t mind wearing high heels every time I visit clients.”

HR replied, as expected: The supervisor had concerns about clients’ perceptions, which was why they asked about my height.

Actually, thinking about it, wasn’t the reason I suggested also discriminating against myself?

This company discriminates based on height. If clients happen to prefer looking at tall women or tall men, you should consider that the company does not protect you from the treatment you may receive when visiting clients outside the office.
