Diverse learning opportunities
The several accounts describing the Robotics Division are quite fair and insightful!
In the Robotics Division, employees almost always change career paths after about a year. As long as you stay long enough, you generally don’t need to worry too much about having an insufficiently broad professional network.
Regarding the recruitment website, although it lists employee benefits and so on, the benefits are limited to full-time employees and interns. Hourly workers do not receive any benefits, including annual leave or year-end banquets. Some policies do follow the Labor Standards Act, but if you encounter special circumstances, it is safer to ask in person and clarify. As for wages, it is best to check the calculations carefully every month (sometimes you may be paid less than you should be, but you will not be left unpaid). Regarding the job duties, the position you apply for may not necessarily be the position’s actual work. This applies to full-time, hourly, and intern roles alike. The work is extremely diverse and depends entirely on your relationship with your “supervisor.” In this department, those who know how to curry favor tend to be better regarded, while people who are less articulate or have more opinions are usually sidelined.
For hourly workers, I suggest treating it as a short-term job to gain some experience and then moving on.
