After the interview, you can go shopping at the Costco in Zhonghe.
This is the company that is always advertising those assault jackets, and the interview location should be the logistics headquarters. Although the company is across from the Costco in Zhonghe District, the surrounding area is almost entirely factories and industrial zones, with scooters and trucks coming and going. The only convenience store nearby is under renovation. One characteristic of industrial areas is that there are many small food trucks and stalls selling breakfast and lunch, but you shouldn’t expect them to be particularly clean or delicious. If you get hired, don’t expect to find many office amenities nearby. The most significant facility is a post office at the intersection, followed by a Costco; otherwise, bring your own lunch.
The company is cramped and somewhat messy (you can smell the restroom as soon as you enter). Several opened cardboard boxes/cartons are piled up at the entrance, and many umbrellas are scattered along the wall outside the entrance (?? It wasn’t raining, was it? Or had they been left there from when it rained until the sun came out?). This company apparently doesn’t have a reception desk, so you have to walk through the two doors and ask the employee sitting at the very front, saying that you’re there for an interview. A very tall man also wasn’t sure and asked whom I was looking for. I said, “Mr. *,” and he then asked whether I was looking for the owner or the manager, which left me confused (I only found out later that the owner is the older brother and the manager is the younger brother).
This company is entirely a family business. The younger brother handles personnel management and customer service, the mother handles the company’s accounting and finances, the father handles incoming and outgoing shipments, and the older brother represents the company externally (such as for signing contracts or filming advertisements).
The two interview supervisors (the two brothers) focused the interview on the HR position, but they were very unclear about the role and only asked whether I knew how to do it. (I thought to myself: It would be easy to get through an interview like this.) I asked the supervisors why they wanted to add an HR position. They only said that this year they were expanding from online e-commerce into physical stores (apparently they will open another counter in September), but after opening this year’s stores, they won’t open any more. The stores are only for customers to try on products, and they don’t expect store revenue. At present, they need HR to manage the scheduling and attendance of employees at the physical stores. Very frank of them~
