奧維多整合行銷股份有限公司
Pros

The company has its own manual processing plant and die-cutting plant, allowing it to quickly build up knowledge of downstream production. You can communicate directly with the roll-forming and die-cutting technicians, and can also go observe their work.

The company’s employees are generally young; quite a few are under 30, and most are in their early 30s. Therefore, there are no generational differences when getting along, and everyone has a pretty good time chatting and joking around. (This only refers to non-management positions.)

It is easy to get hired, and the company is willing to give fresh graduates opportunities, even those with no work experience or who are encountering this industry for the first time.

Cons

The company is mainly divided into three departments: sales, design, and structural engineering.

After joining, employees in sales and structural engineering must go to the manual processing plant for at least one week of training. The location is in Sanchong District, New Taipei City. You have to get there on your own, with no reimbursement for transportation or meals.

You are told that this is for learning about downstream production and understanding the industry.

But in reality, all you do there is work as a processing laborer. No one tells you why you are doing it; you are simply expected to keep quiet and work.

You must work eight hours a day without being late. You get ten minutes of rest every two hours, and you have to stand the entire time; sitting is not allowed.

You are not even allowed to talk—you will be scolded if you do. You will also be scolded for working too slowly.

In short, going to the processing plant is an endurance test, not training.

During the endurance test, you may mistakenly think that you only have to endure this period and will not have to go to the manual processing plant afterward. That is completely wrong.

Whenever there is a holiday or consecutive holiday, if the manual processing plant says it cannot ship orders on time, you will be forcibly scheduled and required to report to the plant. You may also be pressured to explain what personal matters you have if you say you have something to do. Sometimes, even on regular workdays, you will be transferred to work there because the plant needs people, instead of going to the company office.

Of course, you can really refuse to go, but it is difficult to avoid doing so because you will be pressured until you resign.

Even if you go, they will not thank you for sacrificing your holidays, because they consider it something you must do for the company.

Going there on holidays means standing for eight hours, not being allowed to talk, and so on, just as described above.

The design department does not have to go to the manual processing plant, but the design department supervisor is not very proper. He mainly interviews women and is quite unfriendly toward newly hired men.

He stands very close to women, and I have seen him make inappropriate physical contact more than once, including touching women’s shoulders, putting his arm around them, touching their hands, and apparently embracing them.

As with other comments, the company does not pay any overtime; it only converts overtime into compensatory leave. Even when you go to the plant on holidays, you only receive compensatory leave in exchange.

Unused compensatory leave is converted into money, but whenever someone at the company suddenly remembers, they start telling you to take leave. They force you to take time off until all your compensatory leave is used up, and will still tell you to use annual leave afterward.

Overtime is routine; it is not uncommon to work until one or two in the morning.

You will still be called after work and on holidays.

For employee trips, subsidies are based on seniority; the full cost is not covered.

You have to use your own vacation days to take time off for overseas trips.

The prizes in the year-end banquet lottery are never more than 10,000; they are usually only 2,000 or 3,000.

In November 2018, the Labor Bureau conducted an unannounced inspection. At that time, however, employees were forcibly instructed to give consistent answers, saying that the company followed the Labor Standards Act and that working hours were normal.

The turnover rate is high, so you can quickly become a veteran employee. There are only a single-digit number of employees who have been there for more than five years. There are many young people because they were deceived into joining.
