Before the interview, you have to fill out a résumé with extremely detailed information, almost like a background investigation. During the interview, they also pressed me about my family members’ occupations, which I found very disrespectful of my privacy. Throughout the process, they kept asking about my previous job’s salary, but in the end, they only told me the expected salary.
After the interview, HR emailed me to continue pursuing proof of my previous salary, saying it was needed for salary determination. After I asked about the salary range for the position and provided proof of my salary, HR disappeared and could no longer be reached.
Whenever I called, they were always either away from their desk or out on business, which was very different from their proactive attitude when pursuing proof of my salary.
Finally, I emailed again to ask about the interview result and immediately received a rejection notice...
I’ve heard that some companies use fake interviews to investigate competitors’ salaries. I don’t know if I encountered that kind of situation, but they were truly obsessed with asking about the applicant’s previous salary.
