You really need passion for this job—and fresh energy. When you first join, the salary is less than 26K. You’re treated like a dog or a horse; to put it nicely, they call it training.

In reality, it’s just cheap labor, because the budget has all been taken up by the artists and senior executives. Working hours can average as long as 18 hours a day. You also won’t have time to improve yourself, develop a side business, or cultivate other interests. And don’t even think of using this as a stepping stone, because production companies are even more exploitative than TV stations these days. It’s the same wherever you go.

The management hierarchy in TV production companies is very rigid. Come only if you can accept that.

Otherwise, I suggest you go work at 7-Eleven.
