There were two interviews. The first was conducted by the woman at the front desk, who was probably from HR. The process was not unpleasant; she briefly explained the job duties, the work environment, and asked some basic back-and-forth questions. The second interview, however, became uncomfortable from the start. The person conducting it was probably the department manager, and she asked the candidate to ask her questions. Since the person who conducted the first interview was not responsible for the position I had applied for, although the job duties were basically the same as those of my previous job, I wanted to first understand whether the implementation of the leave policy differed significantly from what I had been told during the first interview. The manager then started saying that asking such questions was meaningless, that she could not see any ambition for the job in me, asking why she should hire me, and that I had no right to discuss the leave policy with her... and so on. She also began sharing her own inspirational platitudes. Although they were not entirely meaningless, after receiving such a response, I no longer felt inclined to continue engaging with her and left without asking any further questions.
