Most of the colleagues are kind.
During the interview, they spoke very positively about the salary and benefits, but after I joined, they deducted employees’ pay under all sorts of pretexts. They mocked scores below 70, and all bonuses were confiscated. Looking back, the language used in the interview was just meant to trick you into coming to work there.
Every employee is exploited to the limit. When someone leaves, they tell other people to take on the extra work, or ask students to fill in for full-time employees. Even if you work yourself to death, the boss does not care. He thinks that paying you a small salary gives him the right to order you to devote yourself to the restaurant. As long as someone does the work, that is all that matters, regardless of whether you have professional expertise or have had any sleep.
The boss’s policies and direction keep changing. He just gives orders, while the people below are worked to death, and then he even asks what they are so busy with. He thinks things will be completed automatically at the push of a button, and is an exploitative boss who always stays at the top and refuses to engage with frontline staff.
