1. The OEM department manager was very kind and is one of the friendliest people I have encountered in interviews so far.
2. The manager also explained the job in great detail, clearly outlining the drawbacks beforehand so that candidates could evaluate them.
3. The overseas sales exam was not difficult. It did not contain obscure or overly specialized questions. Basically, anyone with English and basic knowledge of international trade should be able to complete it smoothly.
1. HR called me at 10 a.m. to tell me that I had been hired and asked me to think about whether the salary and benefits were acceptable. They said that if they were, I could come discuss my start date, and that the offer letter would be sent after the start date was decided. I called back at 2 p.m. to say that I accepted the offer and wanted to discuss the start date, but HR then said that because of the pandemic, the company had decided internally to further discuss whether to open this position.
I thought, isn’t this a little too obviously an excuse? Why not just admit that someone was parachuted in and took the position away from me? I completely understand that companies will have many candidates when hiring, just as we do not apply to only one company when looking for a job. However, if the company has not yet decided on a candidate, could you please not use the lousy tactic of telling someone they have been hired first and then keeping them on hold? Especially since your company is also fairly well-known in the industry. So are you trying to say that everything your company says verbally in the future can just be treated as bullshit?
It is all these companies that casually make verbal promises and then go back on them that make everyone feel that only successfully reporting for work counts. The so-called chaos in the industry is driven by these companies with no credibility and no common sense. I have certainly learned my lesson. Seniors, if you are interested in this company, please remember my experience and learn from it.
