Job-related shortcomings: High turnover, average compensation, excessively long working hours, and overly strict management.
First, let me share what a typical workday is like:
08:00 Vehicle starts and leaves; GPS tracking begins
08:30 Arrive at the store
12:00 Lunch; scheduled lunch break ends at 13:30
18:00 Leave the store
19:00 Arrive home
21:00 Fill out the daily report (20–30 minutes)
Once you lay out the daily workflow, you can see that you spend approximately 11 hours or more at the company each day.
Sales activities/company events on Saturdays do not count as overtime and do not come with compensatory leave. Even if you work until 22:00 that day, you still have to leave at 08:00 the next day. Company meetings are very lengthy; the monthly meeting lasts an entire day, from 08:30 to 18:00 (though sometimes it is only half a day). Overall, the time efficiency feels poor.
You are expected to arrive early and routinely leave late.
Vehicles have GPS tracking. If you stay in the same location for too long, a company representative will call to ask about your itinerary.
If you leave exactly on time, your supervisor will ask about it out of concern.
The daily report needs to be 100–300 words long.
This makes it easier to demonstrate that you are actually working.
This company’s benefits and compensation are very good (seriously).
They often give out cash, red envelopes, gifts, and so on, but these are subject to tax deductions.
There is no salary adjustment system. If you join at NT$28,000, you will still be at NT$28,000 five years later.
There are no 5% or 8% salary increases of that kind.
As for a salary increase, you may have to wait until someone shares more information about it.
The supervisors are all very nice and willing to teach and guide you.
However, they are also very worried that you may stop working after two months.
When I joined, I did not know how many people had already left.
Only after I left did I understand why so many people wanted to leave.
With the same NT$30,000 compensation, you can find jobs with shorter hours and higher pay.
The company’s way of managing sales staff is too rigid, so people generally do not stay long.
However, this is their company culture, and I respect that.
There is one thing I want to mention.
One day, the company said that we could work only half a day and then leave (I thought that meant leaving at 12:00 after half a day).
In the end, the earliest we could leave the store was 16:00.
Advice and information |
This sales position is not for someone who wants to coast or slack off.
They are looking for sales staff who are willing to devote their time.
In return, the company will offer good compensation.
As long as you put in the work, the company will recognize it.
If you are not a particularly disciplined or hardworking person, I advise you not to waste your time or the company’s time.
That will be better for both sides.
I hope you will not make the same mistake I did.
Make sure you have sufficient information about this company before joining.
I wish everyone success in finding a satisfactory job.
