Cons

Most of the people who click in to read this are interns or young people interested in the hotel service industry.

Without further ado, let's get straight to the point.

In terms of salary and benefits, hotels are actually pretty similar; this only discusses front-of-house departments.

People who want to work at this hotel are usually attracted by the halo of its international brand,

but in reality, the benefits are even worse than those of some local brands.

The senior management currently wants to imitate Japan's multitasking model.

Simply put, it means using one person to do the work of several people to save labor costs. The starting point is good,

but it has led to increased control over scheduling and overtime, while frontline departments remain in constant chaos.

Telephone operators will be scheduled for shifts at the front desk, then go work overtime at the service center a few days later.

This company opened in 2010 and has a fixed annual salary equivalent to 13 months.

In the year when performance was the best, the year-end bonus was increased by 0.08 months—you read that correctly!

Not 0.8 months! So the year-end bonus factor that year was 1.08 months!

Given the current pandemic, I boldly predict that the year-end bonus will not exceed 0.6 months over the next two years, and may even not be paid at all.

The employee overseas travel subsidy is capped at NT$4,500; you pay for anything extra yourself.

There is no year-end banquet, only a spring banquet. The first prize is routinely NT$10,000, and a group of exploited workers still happily draw lots.

Basically, there is not much financial pressure, so you can come and give it a try.

Before the pandemic, foreign travelers were the main clientele; now domestic tourism has become a nightmare, and weekends are usually blocked out for leave.

If you think about it carefully, why not work at one of the technology companies nearby instead?

This is Hsinchu, after all!
