The company makes money

The company is harsh toward its employees. Even if you work yourself to the bone, you can earn at most NT$30,000–40,000 a month, while working 12–14 hours a day. Typically, in a branch office, only one salesperson—the veteran employee—makes money. Veteran employees can take on company accounts and tap into the resources of long-time clients, but even their income is at most a little over NT$60,000. Besides competing with coworkers, you also have to scheme against your supervisor. Supervisors are very good at manipulating people through account assignments: they may assign you a lousy account with a bonus of less than NT$1,000, while giving better ones to veteran employees. They use account assignments to make you work harder and play petty tricks. This is a terrible work environment. You would expect people to work hard competing with other companies externally, but having them fight among themselves internally is ridiculous too. It is truly exhausting. Although this is a large company, it has no comprehensive management system—its management is primitive and arbitrary, and it can never retain employees. If you want a promotion, you have to flatter the right people. After working like a dog for several years, you might be promoted to section manager at most. I have heard that a section manager’s salary is only NT$50,000–60,000 a month. Young people should think twice before entering this industry, because I can guarantee that you will eventually quit—unless you enjoy this kind of environment.
