The job description is very appealing
I started to sense red flags as soon as I scheduled the interview, so I later canceled it. I’m also grateful for the additional information from Tianyancha.
The following all involved communication with a female manager:
1. An assignment was given before I had even attended an interview. Generally, companies only assign such tasks after the first interview.
The interviewee’s salary is not low either— is it appropriate to take advantage of interviewees to obtain practical feedback for the company in this way?
2. An assignment was given, but the candidate was not allowed to complete it. The assignment was a test URL that required access for trial use, but unexpectedly, the URL could not be opened at all.
3. I urgently emailed the hiring team the day before the interview to explain the situation, but received no response. I then called the company and left my phone number and an explanation, but still received no response until 40 minutes after the scheduled interview time, when they finally called. We agreed on an approximate time for the next interview, but only a time slot was specified, with no exact time.
4. After waiting half a day, I called in the afternoon to ask for a more detailed interview confirmation email. The other party merely transferred the call to HR to send the interview notification (in fact, there had been no HR involvement from beginning to end, and I felt as though I was about to be stood up again).
5. There was still no news by evening. After I proactively emailed to cancel, they emailed at 11 p.m. saying that their mailbox had been malfunctioning.
