- The interview process was efficient

Before the interview, HR called to inform me that masks were required due to COVID-19. It was just after the Lunar New Year, and I had not had many interviews yet, so I wasn’t sure. I asked HR whether masks also had to be worn during the interview, and HR said yes, to protect both sides.

On the day of the interview, from entering the lobby until the interview, I had a good impression. I felt that the protective measures and disinfecting supplies were well prepared, and I thought, “Yes, this is exactly how it should be done.”

The HR representative who greeted me was also wearing a mask.

But during the interview, the supervisor was not wearing a mask... After the supervisor finished the interview, the same HR representative came in to talk with me and also took off their mask... Isn’t that failing to follow the requirements? No wonder the actual workplace atmosphere at so many large companies in Taiwan is poor... So many people say one thing but do another.

You don’t have to wear one during your usual work if that’s the policy, but you should wear one during interviews... If the company had not provided guidance and you simply hadn’t thought of it, that would be one thing. But the company had provided guidance, and there was disinfectant everywhere, yet you didn’t wear a mask when interviewing me....

For such a large contract manufacturing company, how would I know whether any colleagues had returned from business trips to mainland China, become infected, and then infected you as well...? Can you afford the compensation if you infect an interviewee...? Candidates interview with so many companies and have no way of knowing which company has an infection. This is very disrespectful to interviewees.

I wore a mask throughout the entire interview.

It wasn’t until two weeks later, after confirming that I was fine, that I finally felt relieved.

I hope everyone will insist that interviewers wear masks during interviews.
