If you want to toughen your mind, you can work here. Just stay for a month and then leave, and I guarantee that afterward, every boss and supervisor at any company will seem like an angel.
1. Constant exposure to secondhand and thirdhand smoke in the office.
2. There are no boundaries to the job responsibilities. Someone from the design department might be told to help the warehouse inspect incoming goods.
3. Overtime is routine, with no overtime pay or compensatory time off. Working until 8 or 9 p.m. is considered normal. (My personal record was not getting home until almost 2 a.m.)
4. The boss's mood is like a summer afternoon thunderstorm. When unhappy, the boss will suddenly yell at and mock employees, including personal attacks. When in a good mood, the boss still harasses employees in all kinds of ways, regardless of gender—making sexually suggestive jokes and innuendos while thinking they are being funny, commenting on people's bodies, touching people inappropriately, and so on.
5. The boss frequently forgets things and cannot be corrected. The boss will immediately turn hostile and deny having said anything. (For example, after saying in a meeting the day before that something was needed, the boss might say the next day, “Didn't I say I needed it last week? Why isn't it done yet?”)
6. The boss drinks during work hours, and employees still have to wait for the boss to approve their work. It is often impossible to tell what is going on during the day, but after sobering up at 3 or 4 a.m., the boss will post in the LINE group. If nobody replies, the boss will even get angry and ask why no one is responding.
7. The boss has very strange pet peeves. If you offend the boss, you may immediately be publicly humiliated for no apparent reason, loudly. The boss's voice is extremely loud—if the boss shouts from the farthest corner of the office, even people in the back of the company across the hall, with the doors closed, can hear you being humiliated. (It is purely humiliation; the boss does not point out what you did wrong or how to correct it.)
8. As mentioned above, there is an 80% chance that you will be fired on the same day after being berated.
9. Finally, this company averages approximately 5–6 resignations per month.
P.S. This company cannot be described merely as “bad” by any reasonable standard. It is basically hell.
