Former employee. I suddenly came across this and all the anger in my heart came flooding back, so I immediately decided to put these miserable memories down in writing and make them public.
The general manager is a very nice person, and everyone else is nice too—except for the two thick-headed “senior female managers” on the AM Team.
Before the interview, HR will tell you how driven the company is, how much it values employee learning, that it won’t make employees work overtime, and that it offers reasonable salaries and benefits.
But once you actually start working there, you’ll gradually discover that the training resources are outdated and completely useless even if you read them. The veterans still have to teach everything themselves, so all those resources are fake. Even if they tell you before the interview how capable the general manager is and how much knowledge she has, it has nothing to do with you—she doesn’t have time to deal with you and works in a different location, so don’t expect to learn anything from her. But as general manager, that part isn’t her fault.
The fault lies with the two most senior, thick-headed female managers on this company’s AM Team. They are extremely selfish and think they’re always right. When people discuss things with them, they’re already furious inside but still put on a cheeky smile, thinking they’re humorous and interesting. They act as if being managers makes them superior. It’s fine when they go around in circles, but when others do it, it’s unacceptable. They waste a huge amount of time discussing important matters, and even after finally reaching a conclusion, they keep changing their minds. Every time they say the direction needs to change, all of us have to work ourselves to the bone again. What exactly do they want? They both clearly have amnesia. They’re unbelievably stupid. It doesn’t matter to them anyway—they only have to open their mouths; they aren’t the ones actually handling the details. The time wasted isn’t theirs either. They’re incredibly selfish, yet they still think they’re the most capable, the pride of the company, the big shots. So many new employees have worked with them, failed to adapt, and eventually left. Of course you two are the only ones left, so you think you’re the best. The problem is fundamentally with you.
Every day, all they think about is how to review the hiring system, change the recruitment copy, make candidates go through a three-day interview process, and complete some kind of new-hire training. No amount of additional training will help! If the general manager of this company really wants to expand it, she should first seriously review your team—the two thick-headed “senior mentors”! An incompetent commander exhausts the entire army. You change orders from day to day while still acting smug and cheerful. You’re truly awful.
I suspect that when you see this comment someday, you’ll only respond with a confused “What the hell?” because “a horse doesn’t know how long its face is”—that’s exactly the situation here. General manager, don’t take it too hard when you see this. This is the reason your company can’t expand internally. As long as your two senior mentors continue to be managers, talent in your department will keep leaving. All your efforts are being drained away by the people below you!
