Just a lot of year-end bonuses.
If you have connections, nothing is a problem; if you have no connections, everything is a problem.
If you have a background, working there is really great; without a background, it all depends on luck.
The managers above don't know how to use people. Hiring and assigning work isn't based on your education or experience, but on whether you're lucky. There are lots of entrenched employees and incapable relatives or cronies of the powerful, who only know how to follow what their senior, more senior, and even more senior predecessors used to do.
Overall, you can go in for an interview and take a mediocre position if you can't find anything better. If it's a terrible position, resign quickly (there are many terrible positions). A good position? Don't even think about it—they're all reserved for the relatives and cronies of the powerful.
Also, the managers at this company really like their subordinates to flatter them....
