At the time of the interview, it had already been at least five years ago, and because 求職天眼通 was not available then, I did not write it down.
I don't know whether 東南旅行社 is a company with traditional thinking, but it seemed unfriendly and discriminatory toward women. At the time, I went to interview for a programmer position. Because I was a woman, the interviewer asked me, “Do you currently have a boyfriend?” At that moment, I only felt that the question was strangely inexplicable. It was the first time I had ever been asked something like that (and I felt very uncomfortable). Later, the interviewer explained, “Because we want to determine whether you will get married in the future.” In other words, whether I would have children later, need to take frequent leave to care for them, and so on.
I wondered: If I had been born male, would I have been asked such a question? In today’s society, many women also go out to earn money and support their families, struggling in society just as hard as men. Why does it feel as though this kind of responsibility is still exclusively assigned to women? If they use this kind of thinking in interviews, does that mean there is a possibility that female employees’ salaries are heavily discounted, or that they select people based on gender? Being looked down on in an interview like this felt truly awful. Even years later, I still remember this unpleasant feeling deeply.
