The HR staff and managers are all very nice.
When HR was checking my résumé, they asked me to fill in my national identification number, and I did so without refusing.
Actually, many companies nowadays no longer require job applicants to provide their national identification number if it is left blank. After all, it is highly sensitive personal information.
Fortunately, this was a large company, so I trust that they will properly store and destroy my data. (I hope.)
As for small companies, they generally do not require it. It depends on whether the person responsible for printing the résumé, as well as the manager who receives it, remembers to shred and destroy it if it is not needed.
HR is great; however, the head of the HR department should consider removing the requirement that HR remind applicants that their national identification number is mandatory.
