You can perform here. I come when I want and leave when I want. Who am I?
“When Heaven is about to confer a great responsibility on someone, it first afflicts their heart and mind, tires their muscles and bones, exposes them to hunger, subjects them to poverty, and frustrates everything they try to do. In this way, it stimulates their mind, toughens their nature, and increases their abilities.”
If you identify with the quotation above, I suggest you not even bother trying to come here. This place is truly astonishing.
You may think that, here, enduring one round of hardship is all it takes to rise to the heavens, but what you do not know is that you must sink into depravity alongside the demonic figures, plunging into the mire and being reborn through filth and fire. If you are lucky enough to wash yourself clean, you will be endowed with an emperor’s destiny, and may eventually be promoted into the old-timers’ clan and join Neverland.
Neverland is inhabited by many monsters and their slaves. The monsters have been cultivating for long enough—presumably ten thousand years—that they have learned to use the monsters’ worldview to peer at the whole world. The ingredient monster, the meltdown monster, the broken-record monster, the arrogant monster, and too many others to list all grow strong and flourish in this fertile land. Down below, the slaves cry out hungrily, starving until they are barely recognizable, hoping only to experience the day when they can seize a miracle from these waters of filth, climb upward, and then manage the slaves who were once their own kind.
The monsters love gossip, and gossip is your KPI. As long as you tell it well and agree with the monsters’ viewpoints, a slave may be promoted. All future slaves, please make the most of this opportunity. It is said that on the day you are promoted, you will receive a very generous bonus, with annual salaries starting at one million.
But Neverland is still Neverland in the end. After all, everything conjured up here is fake. Once a slave finally sees through this illusion, the monsters may continue to cling to them relentlessly, but they will eventually break free and find their own promised land.
Looking back, only then do you realize: Ah, it turns out I was once a low-intelligence Han-fan, running errands for the useless Han Kuo-yu.
Choose carefully. Choose carefully.
