The daily mental torment can help cultivate patience and emotional intelligence.

This is a company where the board of directors is deeply involved, making it nearly impossible for professional managers to perform their roles properly. The chairperson talks every day about giving employees annual salaries of a million and sharing profits when the company makes money, but in practice says things to employees such as, “Are you useful?” and “I want to exploit you and use you to the limit.” The chairperson also undermines managers, sows discord, and acts inconsistently—in short, it is undoubtedly psychological abuse.

The chairperson often announces plans to send a vehicle to take guests on a one-day tour without considering the company’s staffing, leaving no one and no vehicle available for transportation on site. They also frequently direct on-site employees in unprofessional ways, making on-site services even more chaotic. They smoke in public areas and drink and play drinking games with guests in the hotel restaurant, an open space. Incidents like these happen repeatedly.

It is not that I oppose the board’s involvement, but managing professionals in an unprofessional manner would be bad enough; on top of that, the company stages outrageous spectacles and repeatedly hits new lows. With staffing severely inadequate, employees are frequently required to provide support. The boss even asks employees not to eat and to work late into the night until everything is finished. There has even been an incident in which an employee was angrily berated in public.

Other than the salary, I do not think there is much reason to join this company. Anyone considering joining should think it through carefully.
