The company headquarters building is very impressive.

Before the interview, you have to email them to say whether you will bring a 1-inch or 2-inch headshot. If you have an additional résumé that is not from the 104 Job Bank, you can bring it. On the day of the interview, you will take an aptitude test, and then they give you the company’s standard résumé form and an interview form. The interview form asks nine major questions, which you have to complete before the interview. Then you are taken to a conference room for the interview.

At the beginning, the interviewer asked, “Where’s your résumé?” I was a little confused, so I could only reply, “I only have the one from the 104 Job Bank. Didn’t you say to bring another one only if I had one?” The interviewer’s tone suggested that I should have brought one. Then they asked whether I had brought a headshot. I said I had, and asked what the interviewer would use the photo for. The interviewer replied that it was for the supervisor to look at. I said at the time, “The headshot is the same as the résumé photo on the 104 Job Bank.” The interviewer replied, “If you don’t want to provide it, I won’t force you.” I thought: Why do I have to submit these things if I haven’t even been hired? If I’m not hired, they’ll just throw them away anyway. Does the supervisor judge people by their looks, and do you only have a chance of being hired if you provide a color photo?

Later, after looking at the handwritten company résumé form I had filled out, the interviewer said, “You left way too many blanks!!! All the other interviewees filled theirs out completely.” I could only tactfully say, “I believe it’s only necessary to fill in the required fields. As for information that doesn’t affect the interview assessment, wouldn’t it be fine to complete it after being hired and reporting for work? If there are any fields you think need to be filled in now, please let me know and I’ll complete them.” After I said that, the interviewer did not ask me to fill anything in, but I thought to myself: Why do I have to write down every detail of my personal information?

Then they asked me to introduce myself. After I finished, they asked whether there was anything I wanted to ask. I wondered whether this interviewer had come just to go through the motions.

I asked two questions, but the interviewer told me I could only ask one. Then they said that if I didn’t hear anything within a week, I had not been selected, and that HR would contact me if I was hired.
