Two days ago at 10 a.m., I went to interview for a store inspector/inventory specialist position. HR took me to a conference room and handed me another form to fill out. I thought that after submitting the application response, I had already sent them the company’s Word document, but I had to fill out another one… In the end, there were nine people in the conference room, including me. HR then came in and briefly explained the company’s policies: a NT$500 perfect-attendance bonus for the first half of the month and another NT$500 for the second half. The company has nearly 100 stores, working hours are 08:30–17:30, with two days off per week… They made it sound as though the company’s policies were really great… (Don’t most offices have two days off per week?) They also said that eating cookies and snacks during work hours was not allowed and that we could only drink beverages, except during mealtimes. The main point was how to arrange interviews for nine people. It turned out they interviewed us in the order we arrived. When I went in, an old woman kept coughing. She asked about my previous work and expected salary. I saw that 104 listed it as over NT$40,000, so I said I hoped for NT$35,000. Later, she asked whether I had any other questions. I said no, and she told me the interview ended there and that they would notify me whether I was hired. I was extremely doubtful: Lady, aren’t you going to explain the job duties and salary? Or is this position not even worth NT$35,000, so you stopped talking as soon as you heard I expected NT$35,000…? The interview ended in less than five minutes. The funniest part was that the next day I saw that the salary on 104 had been changed to NT$25,000–50,000… It was really ridiculous.
