1. Colleagues are easy to get along with
2. The company has massage chairs
3. Snacks are provided
1. New hires are sent directly to conduct on-site home inspections as soon as they join the company. Regardless of whether your major is related to the field, there is no training.
2. The company does not provide salary statements. Overtime pay is not paid together with that month's salary because the company does not have an accountant; the owner calculates and transfers all salaries. Therefore, if the owner is not available, there is no way to know when you will receive your salary. In addition, once the daily transfer limit has been used up, you have to wait until the next day. Delayed overtime payments are routine (one employee had still not received them more than a year after leaving the company).
3. The company does not deduct employees' self-paid labor and health insurance contributions from their monthly salaries. Therefore, when resigning, you may still have to pay the company a sum covering your self-paid labor and health insurance contributions.
4. The engineers' office is in the basement. The environment is damp and poorly ventilated. There is a pond in the backyard, but because a pipe broke, wastewater flows directly throughout the yard. As a result, there are many mosquitoes and insects, and foul odors are frequently emitted without anyone addressing the problem (the pond has even been full of mosquito larvae, with maggots covering the ground).
5. When faced with matters the owner does not want to handle, they tend to make excuses or avoid them. Sometimes they oppose things simply for the sake of opposing them, making communication difficult.
6. The turnover rate among engineers is high.
7. The company provides services throughout Taiwan. Therefore, if a home inspection in New Taipei starts at 9 a.m., you have to arrive at the company after 6 a.m. to gather and set out. Even if you are scheduled for four inspections that day, if the last inspection is not conducted until 3 p.m., you may not return to Taichung until 8 or 9 p.m. Workdays can last more than 10 hours, and you may even be scheduled for this kind of assignment four days a week.
8. During the interview, the company mentioned a year-end bonus equivalent to 2.5 months' salary. In reality, it is never paid all at once: 1.5 months' salary is paid around Lunar New Year, followed by 0.5 months each at the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival. If you resign, you will not receive it. As mentioned above, if the owner says they are too busy to make the transfer, you can only wait.
9. If the owner held a gathering with friends at the company the previous evening, you often start work in the morning to find leftover hot pot from the night before or toys scattered all over the floor. Cleaning these up is also considered part of the office or administrative duties. The owner's personal belongings are also often piled up at the company, making the environment cluttered.
10. Overtime is calculated at the average daily wage regardless of whether it is performed on holidays or statutory holidays; there is no multiplier for overtime hours.
