2019: Notes on on-site handovers: Production takes priority; 6S is carried out after the product has been put on the machine. However, if an engineer dislikes you, they may tell the deputy manager, “So-and-so said they won’t do 6S.” What is outrageous is that the deputy manager actually believes it and accuses the operator of being disobedient, transferring them to another unit as punishment. Local employees are expected to work harder than foreign workers. When you are wiping the floor, foreign workers may stand by and watch you work. Foreign workers slacking off, not understanding instructions, and chatting during work are considered normal; if a local employee makes the above mistakes or fails to understand the manager’s intentions, they are treated as if they deserve to be punished, such as being transferred to another unit, having their performance rating reduced to zero, receiving a demerit, and so on. Managers center everything on their own opinions. No matter how long you have worked there, as long as they feel that something you said is even remotely like contradicting them (when in fact you are explaining why the goal cannot be achieved), they will subjectively decide that you are incompetent. The severity of the matter is determined by the supervisor: minor cases result in a performance deduction, while anything they consider serious leads to a transfer. But the explanation they give others is, “We’re developing you and letting you learn more”—such a grand-sounding excuse. No matter how well you performed before, it counts for nothing. The complaint channels are merely for show. If you have no self-respect, can do more work than foreign workers, do not talk back when wrongly accused, treat being sent to provide support as part of your job, and regard being transferred to another unit as the manager’s concern for you (while others may look at you as if you were a monster), there is no path to promotion, everything depends entirely on the supervisor’s personal opinion of you, and the benefits are almost the same as those for foreign workers—welcome to the pit as soon as possible.
