I went directly to the mainland branch for the interview. Before the interview, the mainland HR representative communicated very attentively by email and even reminded me about the weather on the morning of the interview.

The Taiwanese executive responsible for the interview clearly did not want to pay for the round-trip airfare. He even complained in front of me about why we could not simply use video conferencing, and said that I was wasting his time by making him get up early to interview me. He was a very traditional Taiwanese executive and even openly said, “Why waste time looking for Taiwanese people?”
