The indoor office environment is very new and beautiful, with two floors. It’s really no small feat for a stationery store to be this large.

Before going in, I had to complete a personality assessment, and on the day of the interview, I also had to answer several more personality-test questions. The content was very much a test of your character—for example, whether you agree with extramarital affairs, or how you would react if the company required you to work overtime. The answer choices often steered you toward taking on the role of the “bad guy,” such as responding with angry protest or an emotional expression of unhappiness. After that, I also had to complete a timed math test. All of these tests really felt like a stress test. The interviewers also asked questions that were awkward and seemed designed to test your character, and their manner made me feel very uncomfortable—for example, suddenly showing concern about your personality for no apparent reason. The several employees helping with the interview also seemed to have frequent emotional fluctuations. In short, just the large number of questions testing your character was already somewhat uncomfortable.
