The company has an attractive exterior and is very good at PR spin and boosting its stock price.
1. Turnover is extremely high throughout the organization, especially in the Marketing and Fashion & Luxury divisions. Management is seriously problematic—both incompetent and emotional.
2. Department heads are very good at taking employees’ proposals and submitting them as their own. They also frequently fabricate performance results: their own people’s work is spun as excellent no matter how poor it is, while non-favorites’ work is portrayed as that of redundant employees no matter how good it is. People with moral integrity and a conscience will find this environment extremely painful, so think very carefully before joining.
3. Division- and department-level managers are two-faced and malicious beneath their smiling exteriors. They enjoy closing the door and privately mocking and cursing competitors, suppliers, and former employees. Be psychologically prepared to become this kind of person if you join.
4. The company violates the Labor Standards Act 100% of the time. Employees are ordered to work overtime without being allowed to report it, and are not allowed to clock out when leaving. Every week, employees must report to HR in writing that they were handling personal matters—even though the department head is clearly exploiting them for unpaid overtime!
5. Reporting overtime leads to criticism of your workflow; not reporting overtime leads to criticism of your initiative. No matter what you do, you will be criticized, often through extremely arrogant and emotionally abusive rants.
6. It is a political, bureaucratic system. Senior and incumbent employees are highly skilled at making things up out of thin air, embellishing stories, and framing others. They spread damaging stories externally about people whose positions differ from theirs, and have already driven away many serious and capable employees.
7. It does not matter if you know how to do nothing while working here—as long as you know how to cling to powerful people. Do not expect to learn or grow; the only things you will learn are manual, labor-intensive tasks. It is suitable for people willing to sell their own ability to think and exercise judgment, becoming lapdogs in exchange for a salary.
