Free lunch is provided. Sometimes, when working overtime, there are large Costco-sized meal packs available to eat.
1. The boss is far too suspicious; everyone who joins is treated as a thief at first.
The company has more surveillance cameras than there are on the roads.
They probably have listening devices installed too. Sometimes, not long after you finish saying something, the boss will appear and respond to you personally.
It makes everyone feel constantly on edge.
2. When placing orders, they only want to get the cheapest deal. A single order may be sent back for revision five or six times.
It makes it difficult for employees to get their work done. Eventually, the order is placed too late and delays the work, but then they turn around and say that you were too slow.
3. Most of the internal staff are relatives or people with family connections—a typical family-run business.
The accountant clocks everyone in and out on time for the entire company.
4. The managers are the type who trick people into joining by leaving many things unclear.
Maybe if they explained everything clearly, no one would be willing to come work here anyway.
The interview also did not mention that the job would involve traveling to construction sites and handling field work, but in practice, you have to travel around and provide support everywhere.
It is supposedly an internal office position, yet it is more like an external field role.
5. There are quite a lot of meetings, and whenever the boss thinks of something, they will call you in for a chat.
