The colleagues are nice (by “colleagues” here, I mean people who are not related to the company by blood).
1. Their job openings appear on all the major recruitment websites, with titles such as “E-commerce Listing Assistant” and “Graphic Design and Listing Assistant.” In reality, there is no difference between the two positions, nor is there any difference in pay. (Although their stated salary range is NT$25,000–30,000, the actual salary is NT$24,000. It will absolutely never exceed NT$30,000, and there is no salary-increase system or anything similar.)
2. Regarding the job description, many people apply for what appears on paper to be an e-commerce listing assistant position. In reality, they require you to know image-editing and graphic-design software and have graphic-design skills, while also doubling as customer service, handling orders and receipts, processing returns, answering phones, and filling out applications for projects on various platforms—almost everything is included!
3. To add to that, filling out those applications takes up a great deal of the workday and has led to increasingly frequent overtime. The decision to participate in any project is made solely by the family of four. By the time you find out, you are expected to clean up after them and submit all the required materials. At first, they are very proactive about handling things, but as they gradually lose their enthusiasm, they push everything onto the employees. They may even become impatient. Whenever there is an omission or money-related issue, they suddenly change their attitude and act as though they have lost their memory, questioning why you participated in the first place, and so on. They then berate employees for poor performance and similar matters!
4. The more skills they know you have, the more they will make use of you. You will be expected to remove backgrounds and edit images, create banners and other graphics, make LINE posts, and so on.
5. At first, they pretend to say that things are not urgent and that you can take your time. Gradually, however, they start controlling everything, and once things get out of control, they demand everything be done as quickly as possible. Eventually, working long hours every day becomes the norm. The recruitment websites state working hours of 9:00–18:00, but you will never be able to leave on time. They even seem to think overtime is entirely reasonable, yet they will not approve your overtime pay. They also dump everything they do not want to do on you, then leave work themselves!
6. The system is extremely opaque. The four members of their family are the only ones who have the authority and privilege to disregard the rules. Taking leave, going to worship, seeing a doctor, and so on are all treated as justified for them; they may even have friends come by in the afternoon to invite them out for coffee, while employees are required to provide proof.
7. When it comes to things they do not understand, they consistently believe only what their family members say, while requiring employees to verify everything. They may misunderstand customers, misread prices, or take the wrong documents. None of that matters to them; employees are always the ones who have to apologize. But if an employee makes even one mistake, or if mistakes accumulate, they blame everything on that individual and make them bear all the responsibility.
8. The staffing situation is always a mystery. They will tell you about their vision for the future, but you will always have an endless amount of work. The more work you have, the easier it is to make mistakes, yet they will blow those mistakes out of proportion and yell at and blame employees. In reality, some problems originate with the family of four, but employees are always the ones who bear the consequences.
9. When they promise to help employees share the workload, they always make it sound as though you can “discuss it” or “share” it with them, but that arrangement becomes invalid the very next day, and the work piles back up on you. Then they repeat the same pattern, yelling at employees about how long things should take and when they must be completed. As mentioned above, it is impossible to finish everything when one person is doing multiple jobs. They then tell you to leave at 19:00, 20:00, or even 20:30, meaning you stay at the company for nearly 12 hours, with no personal life and no overtime pay.
10. Be careful if you go in for a trial shift or trial work! They may not immediately enroll you in labor and health insurance, and may pretend to have forgotten, claiming that you failed to submit the documents. Otherwise, they may deliberately wait until you request leave before “remembering” that you were never enrolled!
11. This is very important: remember to photograph the paper time cards. Even if you work overtime for just one day, regardless of how long, you will have evidence in case you do not receive your pay. Otherwise, given their awful character, they seem likely to exploit loopholes at the edge of the law.
In short, I recommend that everyone stay away from this extremely dangerous company. Rather than wasting your time, it would be better to find a workplace with better prospects and a brighter future.
