Cons

I applied for a warehouse management position. The salary listed on the job bank was clearly NT$40,000, but when I went to the interview, the boss offered a base salary of only NT$20,000. This makes no sense—isn't the minimum wage NT$23,100 as of 2019? Then they add things like meal allowances or perfect-attendance bonuses to bring the salary up to NT$30,000, but it's still only NT$30,000.

So I asked, “Didn't the salary on the job bank say NT$40,000?” The boss actually said that amount is only available for working 11 hours, and that the salary would be adjusted to NT$40,000 only after three months. So for normal working hours, it's only NT$30,000, and for the first three months of working 11 hours, it's only NT$36,000.

But here's the funny part: hasn't the Labor Standards Act eliminated the concept of a probationary period long ago? A company can blatantly deceive job seekers on a job bank and waste their time like this without facing any legal punishment. Taiwan is really lenient toward employers like this.
