The boss is away from Taiwan for long periods, so it’s a place where you can coast.
1. The so-called benefit of “team meals” simply means having a meal while attending a meeting with the boss—probably about once every two months!
2. The boss is truly very self-centered, unable to take in suggestions and unable to see the company’s future.
3. The company has fewer than about 10 employees, but the employee turnover rate is extremely high.
4. To conceal her lack of ability, the boss always likes to pretend to know things she doesn’t—and it’s extremely serious.
5. There are few employees, but the relationships among them are not particularly good either; everyone is very unfamiliar with one another.
6. The products on the company brand’s production line are all made with corners cut. The company uses the cheapest materials while setting the highest prices, deceiving consumers.
7. The boss likes to blur the lines between personal and professional matters. Unless you are her relative, there is no room for mistakes.
8. She always likes to paint new employees a picture of a dream that will never come true.
9. Apart from performance, there are almost no other quantifiable KPIs.
10. If your salary is based on performance bonuses and you earn too much in a given month, be prepared for the possibility of a pay cut—and it is absolutely certain to happen!
11. The so-called year-end bonus will not be within the amount you might expect; it will shock you, possibly being even less than an intern’s salary.
12. If you perform well at work and receive praise from other colleagues, the boss will become jealous. You will have a difficult time from then on.
