The lobby is impressive.

I interviewed for a production control engineer position. It was raining heavily that day, and I rode all the way from Hsinchu. When I arrived, I went straight into an interview with the supervisor.

The supervisor asked me: “What is your understanding of the responsibilities of a production control engineer?” I gave a general description of what I knew.

She replied: “Actually, what we do isn’t quite the same as what you described. It does include the things you mentioned, but there’s also OOOXX. It seems this job probably isn’t what you’re looking for.”

I thought it was strange and felt as though she was trying to brush me off and get rid of me.

Then she said: “Actually, we already found someone last week. We just still wanted to have you come in so we could meet and chat.”

The interview ended in just over 10 minutes. I was completely dumbfounded. After I got home, I emailed the HR representative who had notified me about the interview: If you had already found someone, why ask me to come all the way there and waste my time?

The HR representative replied very “politely”: “Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention first instead of posting about it on PTT. If you had this problem but posted directly on PTT, we might put you on a blacklist and never hire you in the future!”

Although the supervisor had already found someone, she thought it would be worthwhile to talk with you, which is why she invited you in. You may feel that your time was wasted, but perhaps this could also lead to an opportunity to work together in the future... (followed by various other polished remarks)

Conclusion: They stood me up for an interview, and if I post about it on PTT, I might even be blacklisted?! I’m speechless.
