1. At the time, I was working as a designer, and my supervisor would ask me to walk around the floor and take a look more often. That was one of the small perks of the job.
2. The colleagues in the Promotions Department got along well and would get together for meals and things like that.
3. There was not much overtime (though it did happen occasionally).
1. The working environment was poor. During the interview, I was at Shin Kong Life's beautiful office, but the actual workplace was in a warehouse-like area on the fourth floor of the department store. It was extremely poorly ventilated, and whenever someone defecated, the whole area would smell terrible.
2. The senior management's thinking was very old-fashioned and stubborn. A perfectly good event would be forced into a complete mess because senior management decided it had to be changed in a certain way, exhausting the employees below them in the process. A single DM would be revised right up until the very last second before being sent to print.
3. Because my supervisor was not highly educated, he looked down on employees with higher levels of education and would occasionally verbally bully me. When I made suggestions that could make the work more efficient, he would often argue against them and then start saying that highly educated people were simply unwilling to learn properly.
4. There was little variation in the work, so it was extremely boring. After about a month, you would understand the general cycle, and there was not much left to learn.
5. The salary was not high. Since the people above tended to hold on to their positions and not leave, there were also few opportunities for promotion or raises.
6. Because department stores use shift schedules, it was very difficult to take time off or swap shifts. Scheduling was usually done starting with the more senior employees, so new employees' days off were very scattered.
7. You were forced to use your salary to buy meal vouchers. Meal costs were deducted from your salary, and you were then forced to choose between eating the employee meals or spending the vouchers at the food court in Qsquare.
8. Overtime was not paid; you only received compensatory time off, but it was also very difficult to take leave.
