Convenient transportation (Taipei Metro Taipei City Hall Station)
Before the interview, I had already made it clear that I didn’t want a job where I’d be constantly working overtime,
but HR still invited me to interview.
In the end, I even made it to the second round,
and the senior manager kept circling back to the topic of overtime.
The discussion included:
1. If the project deadline is very tight, but someone suddenly says that a feature needs to be changed and it can’t be finished without working overtime, would you work overtime?
2. If you take over code with bugs left by the previous person,
even though you didn’t write it, would you work overtime to fix it because it’s urgent?
In the end, I also started getting impatient because they kept pressuring me to compromise on these overtime demands through their questions and answers, so the interview came to nothing. I was ultimately ghosted.
Conclusion:
Personally, I think the frontline manager in the first interview wanted to hire talent, but the senior manager wanted to hire slaves instead XD
