I feel that many people completely abuse Jobscan (求職天眼通). Although I have already left the company, I feel that some clarification is needed to set the record straight, so that certain people with poor work attitudes do not turn around and blame the company for this and that.
Pros:
1. Snack benefits on Mondays and Wednesdays
2. Half a month's salary in the middle of the year and 1.5 months' salary at the end of the year
3. The work environment is fairly relaxed. Once the high-pressure busy period has passed, you just deal with the remaining miscellaneous tasks. Those who make a huge fuss about working on projects probably have not worked at other office-type companies.
4. Great flexibility in taking compensatory leave, and more annual leave than other companies. (However, this depends on the situation in each team and whether you can actually take it. I heard that the Taiwan team has an easier time taking leave because of its shift schedule. In my team, you just shouldn't request too many days off; the other team members will not make an issue of it.)
5. Salary increases. This is both a pro and a con: compared with companies where raises are impossible for two or three years, it is a pro, but the size and ceiling of the raises are the con.
1. The Hong Kong team has to work overtime on holidays. It seems that some colleagues on the Taiwan team do not have to, but I am not sure.
2. Benefits are really slow to be paid out. Apart from the year-end bonus, which is the only thing that is not delayed, everything else is handled very slowly and sluggishly, with the excuse that the boss has not approved it yet.
3. There are projects that need to be completed, and the company says they are to help complete the system, while also requiring employees to use up their compensatory leave. The supervisor has no idea how to achieve both objectives.
4. The system is truly awful. Every day, I worry about whether it will cause customer delays. I do not understand what the company is doing by refusing to upgrade the system.
5. The supervisor is not from Hong Kong anymore, but one came by once a while ago. Basically, I did not really have any opportunity to speak with them.
6. The salary is below average. I joined at NT$24.5K. For Taichung, it is not as bad as NT$22K, but it is not particularly good either.
