Pros

The company has a good office environment in the Kaohsiung Software Park.

Cons

1. The HR manager also serves as the marketing deputy manager: The procedures seemed somewhat unprofessional! Two days before the interview, I provided the other party with electronic copies of the required résumé documents so they could review the information in advance and gain a basic understanding of the applicant before the interview. However, they insisted that I still bring hard copies to the interview on the day itself. The electronic and paper copies were clearly identical, and electronic files are also more convenient for personnel records and filing. The fact that they were unwilling even to make copies of the materials provided by the interviewee seemed rather inappropriate.

2. The interview process was unnecessarily lengthy: I can understand the need to communicate with the foreign headquarters, but requiring a second and third interview inevitably makes one wonder whether the company is really that large. Why make the interview process so elaborate and formalistic? I was told that notification of the second interview would take about two weeks. The final week has now arrived, and I still have not received any notification. I feel disrespected. If I was not being considered, they could simply have sent a rejection notice; at least that would have given the applicant an explanation and avoided wasting both parties’ time.

3. The company culture is basically “don’t be so calculating”: When I raised questions about labor benefits and related matters, the other party replied that the company would absolutely provide everything it should, so I should not be so calculating with the company. They also said that, if a job seeker was fortunate enough to be hired, they hoped the person could treat the company as a second family! HELLO~~~~ The company does not even want to care about our well-being, so why would I come to work here? I am here to make money, not to do charity! After hearing that, all I could feel was an intensely wolf-pack-like, exploitative old-school-boss mentality.
