1. When working overtime at exhibition venues, they don’t provide boxed meals to employees, saying it’s because nobody wants to eat them. In reality, it’s just cost-cutting.
2. When marketing staff have to move goods until midnight, the boss treats them to convenience-store drinks. No compensatory time off, though.
3. The boss is very generous. I still remember when we achieved unbelievable results: the whole company celebrated with the boss treating us to delivered Korean fried chicken! So grateful and full of praise! At the time, the entire company had fewer than 20 people, and the celebration banquet cost less than 200 per person.
4. They employ large numbers of interns—great. The boss came from the Taiwan Microsoft internship program and discovered that interns are cheap, creative, and able to endure demanding work. Besides, every full-time employee’s liver is already wrecked, and on average they don’t stay long, so hiring interns for one-year terms isn’t a bad idea. It also allows the company to receive government recognition and put on a show for consumers as a “happy enterprise.”
5. They call themselves a happy enterprise. If you leave work on time, the boss’s relatives and cronies will ask, “Wow, you’re really free,” so there’s absolutely no pressure! Great!
6. They claim to have a cheap snack cabinet as large as Google’s. Looks like the Taiwan Microsoft internship program intern has never worked at Google or visited Google.
7. A self-created brand becomes a British brand, made in mainland China—the pride of Taiwan!
There’s nothing that could possibly be improved.
