Employees need money, but they also need respect.
A friend resigned shortly after joining the company. At first, I thought, “When you’re wrong, admit it; when you’re beaten, stand up straight.” Isn’t that just how the workplace is? Just endure it and it’ll pass.
But it turned out that the manager had been in a bad mood for those few days because of something involving his son, and he snapped at everyone he saw.
The day before, my friend had worked overtime and was tired. He accidentally dropped the documents he was holding all over the floor.
It should have been no big deal if he had simply picked them up, but the manager happened to see it and berated him all the way from the elevator entrance to the lobby.
Some managers don’t care about their subordinates’ dignity and like to bark orders.
A good manager must respect employees. Don’t let the trusted right-hand people who should be your strongest support become volatile hazards at your side.
